It appear that when we read a sentence, the cognitive load is greatest at the end of the sentence where we experience a 'wrap up' effect as we draw the themes together. The more clauses, the greater the demand (Lobina et al. 2017).

I've been emulating Stanley Road's writing/grammar lesson structure for a while now with great success - lots of sentence-level work, three-part lesson structures with I/We/You Do, and building automaticity. Would *highly* recommend their CPD. @primarypercival/@missjessrennie

🌟Students need a sentence structure to show their understanding that big ideas are connected to little moments.🌟🧵 I talk a lot about micro and macro. Everything we read and write moves between big & small; small & big. Being able to access the big idea is important. 1/10
