@ramit I’ve actually been planning on spending $60,000 to finish my large, unfinished basement. It has a separate entrance, so the plan is to convert it into a furnished MTR. There’s a demand for it locally, and the rents would cover the cost in 5 years. Good investment?

@ramit …he wants to retire at 55, and for his quality of life not to diminish. The state’s pension system basically results in 60% of your best-earning years during retirement. I’ve talked with him about “hiding money from himself” before - so he can go on cool future adventures -

Real luxury is the ability to have a slow morning if you want it, enjoy a good conversation without rush, eat well, have good health, and a warm home. Brand names and flashy things are nice - but they're not luxury.
