@typesfast It genuinely feels like Apple is intentionally withholding on the voice typing front. I have no idea WHY, but ever other dictation app I use be it Wispr, Grok, Claude, is LEAGUES better than siri. Surely Apple isn't actually that far behind right??

@hectorserrranoo I was a varsity rower all 4 years at Harvard and swam for 8 years prior to that. No shot I could have stomached the pain of bootstrapping a biz from scratch without those experiences.

had coffee yday with a guy who grew his following to 610k over the past few months. I asked him to review my company's content He looked at it and in 30 seconds goes "I can tell you exactly why this post [our top performing one] did 285x the median." "Okay...why?" I asked His response: "SPECIFICITY." The algo apparently loves specificity. I tested it out today posting a talk to cam video with a specific substack article I found interesting. It's WIDLY outperforming our other content. Super interesting.

Anyone thinking about jumping from a traditional career path into startups/founding something should read this article from @mnqrls : substack.com/home/post/p-21… It's a great reminder that the beginning of any new pursuit is fun bc our identities aren't tied to it, the rate of learning/improvement is super high, and there is a ton of novelty. However, long term, excessive freedom to choose and jump from thing to thing is dangerous bc nothing ever compounds. When I think of my own experience building a biz it reminds me of the scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire during the Triwizard Tournament when they are going into the maze and at first the crowd is loud, the music is playing etc, but then they enter and all of that fades away and it's just them + the uncertain path ahead. Anyways, a few of my favorite quotes form this article: "The difference is whether breadth enriches a chosen life or continually provides an exit from it." "The question is whether we leave because reality has taught us something, or because it has finally intruded upon the fantasy." As a bootstrapped founder who has started to lean more into content this was insanely helpful. It also really resonated w/ the experience I've had so far (specifically the Claude gorilla video example) Early on at TopSDRs we did a random collab video on IG that got 500k+ views and brought in a ton of new followers. In the moment it felt great, but in reality those followers weren't interested in our core offering. Long term that bump hurt us bc it had us indexing on the wrong things and we needed to reset how the algo thought about us (or at least that's my interpretation). In the past year we've spent over $30,000 taking candidates we've placed out to dinner in NYC. This morning, I had Grok scan our Ramp statements and pull all of the restaurants we've gone to. I then ranked my personal top 5 (full list in comments) 1. Eleven Madison Park: Maybe a little corny as #1, but it was genuinely the best dining experience I've ever had. It's the only restaurant where they've sent me home with breakfast for the next morning. 2. Yoon Haeundae Galbi: The best Korean BBQ I've had in NYC. Get the good cuts à la carte. The dry-aged ribeye was phenomenal, and the cold noodles with mustard were surprisingly good. 3. Cuerno: Great steak, and the Taco Richi is 🔥, but the standout is the Pastel de Campechanas for dessert (3 of us couldn't finish it). 4. Torrisi: I know, a little "pick me," but it was a phenomenal experience. Someone at our table called the almond cheesecake "the best thing I've ever eaten." For me, the Chicken alla Griglia was the standout. 5. Laser Wolf: Yes, we venture to Brooklyn sometimes! Don't sleep on the pineapple that comes with the hummus platter. View is unbeatable. Go during warm months IMO. Honorable mentions: Delmonico's, Peter Lugers (cash only, so it never showed up on the card statements), Cosme, The Golden Swan (great burger), and Temple Court.

@sabhyac267 YES. People loving giving Starbucks crap but it’s total rocket fuel. Also as a MA guy Dunkin iced during the summer is 🔥. If you served the same coffee at some niche place with graphic tees for sale and Polaroids on the wall it would be ranked s-tier
