Codex is significantly better than claude sonnet 4.5 for complex coding, architecture, and troubleshooting yes, it is slow but delivers high-quality output for low- to mid-level tasks, sonnet 4.5 works fine; for planning or complex work, GPT-5-high/codex is the better pick
