In late 2019, the UCP government announced the de-indexation of AISH payments from inflation, meaning benefits would no longer increase with the rising cost of living. The UCP allocated $1.29 billion for AISH in its 2020 budget, tabled in February. In September 2020, Rajan Sawhney @RajanJSaw Minister of Community and Social Services made an announcement that declared that decreases and changes to AISH had been reversed. Sawhney claimed that she was doing her best for people with disabilities “First, please know that no changes have been made to the AISH program. Second, the focus of my review has been on service delivery, and finding ways to streamline operations. I will continue with that review. “Third, I know you don’t feel like it at the moment, but I ask that you trust me. I am very protective of all CSS clients and vulnerable Albertans. I’m doing my very best for all of you. Finally, to conclude, let me state definitively that there will be no cuts to AISH financial benefits.” Now in June of 2026 Nathan Neudorf @neudorf_ab is the minister of Alberta’s Assisted Living and Social Services. Now Neudorf represents the only province to cut $200/ month of federal funding to people with disabilities. Now instead of protecting individuals with disabilities Neudorf and the UCP are forcing 1000s of people who have been found by medical experts to not be able to work into ADAP, a program that expects these individuals to find employment. Where is Neudorf’s compassion for people with disabilities and their fear that they will struggle to live on ADAP? We took her on Sunday & Monday still in ER. Today separate area but not full hospital room. Seniors at risk with Smith & UCP policies !

The UCP is handing nearly $100 million of Alberta taxpayers’ money to foreign multinational contractors — Australian and British-owned companies — to run our new disability employment system (ADAP). Instead of supporting Alberta-based businesses and organizations that actually understand our communities and employ local people, they’re outsourcing to overseas for-profit firms. This money should have stayed in Alberta. It should have gone to homegrown companies and non-profits that keep dollars circulating in our province and deliver services designed for Albertans. I'm reupping this thread from last year. I took some time to gather the data then and it is not only still on the money - it is still incredibly timely. Private care in AB (in this case the CSF's) have been shown - Not. To. Work. How much more do we need to show?

They seem to have beguiled their followers into supporting something that will be very bad for most of them. I am impressed by that ability. But honest Albertans should not let them get away with this chicanery. /end

Who are they *really* trying to help? Well, the groups who benefit are: 1. Wealthy companies 2. Wealthy patients 3. Government themselves (they no longer pay for care) Everyone else in AB suffers (and dies) so that our gov can reward these groups. And they know it. /2

Our government professes to be doing Bill 11 to improve access to care and shorten wt lists. Below are 5 countries where this was tried and didn't work. Add to that failures in MB and AB (radiology open access). There are no successes. Only failures. /1

Funny @FreeAlbertaRob, you left out that the only place this works is in the Netherlands where they have sufficient Drs & HCWs. Since your govt drove them out we have neither. Since you allowed private surgeries to charge us DOUBLE, the waiting list is LONGER. Want stats Rob?

The UCP call dual practice a game changer, and @PfParks agrees- just for different reasons. He argues it doesn't address serious surgery waits, adding places that use it like Sweden have far better patient-doctors ratios. He says it violates the Canada Health Act and wants federal intervention.

Yesterday was a sad day for evidence based medicine in AB. GoA is going ahead with Bill 11. Despite the fact we‘ve already tried this and it has failed in its stated goals. Lets just put this out there clearly./1
