So AB, if you’re calling an ambulance and getting sent to the one of our Edmonton EDs, bring a book or two… and now an umbrella. (Actual pictures shared w me!)
Our EDs are literally overflowing… w pts AND the endless rain now too! And our Premier and Minister hold a press conference to re-announce an old funding policy for surgeries!
Hey AB: I know all this rain sucks, but you know what’s worse? Getting rained on when you are stranded in an EMS overflow area in the UAH ED!!! Got sent pics of the collapsed roof (from all of the rain)! 12 pt care spaces impacted. Means longer waits for all!

Presumably they’ll get cut off of any and ALL HC coverage until they go get their ID card!!! Or maybe they only want voting age ABs to have to do this… which makes it pretty obvious this has nothing to do w HC
With these new Alberta drivers licenses with your healthcare number attached, what happens to newborns and kids? Do we take them to the registry and get their picture taken for an ID card? Or will babies just be able to have a healthcare card?
I would think Westlock, and area, would be up in UCP's face...
*NEW* The Westlock Hospital OBGYN Unit remains CLOSED. Closure has been EXTENDED until Dec 1st, 2026. The Unit has been closed for 1,224 Days. OBGYN Patients continue to be diverted to Sturgeon Hospital (68KM) or Edmonton (86KM) via EHS EMS if required. /13
Think about this… so many seniors in nursing homes w dementia and medical reasons for it to be difficult to renew their new license (when they don’t even drive!) Do they all get kicked off of their HC coverage?

@PfParks That’s exactly what it is. 2 years for a MRI or CT but you can get in tomorrow if you pay for it… If you have to go to emergency, plan for a long wait. There are no UCC’s that can take the strain off ED’s and half the people don’t have GP’s. She fixed nothing, it’s worse
I can’t even begin to imagine suffering a hip fracture and then waiting days for surgery. This is inhumane.
General comments: Waiting 3-4 days for fractured hip repair is the new norm al many hospitals in AB (some wait over 7 days or longer due to lack of Human Resources to provide the care) Note also the delays for inter-hospital transfer by EMS… also very normal occurrence
This is a very positive and generous gift But I hope they built the hallways long and wide to place pts in when their volumes go up But maybe that’s just the EDs where they do that??? Wonder if the Minister cut the ribbon to the added hallway beds off the ED at the same time?

OK. I went back and looked. AB was the first province in Canada to introduce pt-pay access for radiology (CT/MRI). It was done in 1993 and the rationale at the time was that wt lists were too long. /1
