Money and income won't be the harder problem to solve in the future if AI and automation keep evolving at this pace (we will have fewer and fewer jobs, but goods and services will necessarily get proportionally cheaper). The real challenge will be for people to find meaning. The most likely outcome is we'll find such meaning through creativity in simulations (virtual worlds).

That is very true. However, if you're specifically talking about software that is used by other software developers (like game engines, for example), the curse of convenience is also the biggest enemy of good software in the long run. Successfully delivering the convenience you describe generally drives the users away from fully understanding what they're working with (the magic black box under the hood *somehow* solves the problem for them while not getting in the way). I absolutely love to see software accessibility empowering people with little to no technical knowledge to create full-blown interesting experiences and games. At the same time, it is also scary to think of someone chasing a long-term relationship with game development who is not interested in knowing what a shader is or how a rendering pipeline works under the hood, because knowledge propagation also requires work and effort to be sustained. IIRC @Jonathan_Blow gave a very interesting lecture about this same concern called preventing the collapse of civilization a few years ago, with some very interesting arguments and evidence to back this concern up.

I've always like this Black Ops 2 reload, so I did a little study remaking it with nearly identical timings. I learned a lot from this. It's a challenge to sneak in those details with only 55 frames at your disposal. Also, sound on for proper 2012 immersion :)

Two important patterns when dealing with events in unreal : First always weakly capture your object if you're sending them down for async processes in lambdas. Second, use AddWeakLambda when possible, it'll automatically check that the passed uobject is alive before execution

Warning! Remember that if you do not clear timers properly in Unreal you may end up calling functions on destroyed objects. That can happen if you call a lambda as the timer callback instead of an UFUNCTION. Clearing the timers when the object is destroyed can save you.

My upcoming camera plugin works out of the box on the new motion-matching sample project! Instanced modifier stacks have no issue reading the required data, and the runtime blending and modification work perfectly.

First Adobe changed their Terms to give themselves a permanent license to any content you produce using their software. Then they pretended it was a misunderstanding. Then Adobe gaslit people who pointed out that they are full of BS. Then they put out damage limitation statements that mean nothing. I have cancelled Adobe and so should you if you are a creator who has a backbone. Here is what I have done: 1. Premiere Pro -> Davinci Resolve This is an upgrade. The software is less clunky and actually works better. Integration with hardware is better. No licences. No monthly payments. I bought the Speed Editor Keyboard that comes with a Resolve license - absolute bargain of a deal. 2. Photoshop -> Affinity Photo This is also an upgrade. After an hour of getting used to it, Affinity software actually works better. Image editing and my YouTube workflow are better. 3. Illustrator -> Affinity Designer Same as above - actually very good software. *** In the last few years Adobe’s competitors have caught up with and overtaken Adobe. I was blind to how good the alternatives have become, using Adobe stuff because I was a creature of habit. Would very strongly recommend trying the alternatives out. You might surprise yourself… And save a boatload of cash.
