If the Pirates ask for more than our, like, 7th to 10th best prospects for Reynolds, you hang up the phone. Dude’s a step or two away from basically being Jurickson Profar (who actually walked more, K’d less, and was significantly better defensively).
@JonHeyman Just blindly willing the Mets and Yankees to be in on every single player lmao
@MLB Why tf would you use *this* specific highlight?
AJ bringing back a Mexican-born player?? Yeah, the Padres are definitely going buckwild this offseason.
When the Padres signed Manny, which was a clear sign they were ready to compete for a World Series, this salty dork said it was a bad move because they didn’t have enough talent around him. Now when the Rangers get deGrom for $37M/yr it’s smart & they’re “build(ing) around” him. twitter.com/buster_espn/st…
@jeffdotseth I’ll do you one better. I became a Padres and USC fan on my own accord and my dad didn’t do a thing to stop it!
I’m just saying - has anyone ever seen these two in the same room at the same time??
The most pitiful defensive effort I think I’ve ever seen in my 20+ years of watching this team. Holy shit, man.
USC wilting when the light shines brightest. What a disappointment.
@lonestarfriar That’s absolutely true, the narrative is just weird to me. I’d almost venture to say Crone is better at 2B than Kim is at SS (haven’t looked at the #’s admittedly) but the way it’s told is Kim is the defensive maestro, hence why Crone makes sense to trade.
I also understand that this makes him a more enticing trade piece but if you put a gun to my head I’d rather have an infield of Manny/Tatis/Turner/Crone than Manny/Kim/Turner/(insert 1B here)
Is Cronenworth not as good (or better) a defender than Kim, at least between their respective positions? Kim is obviously a tremendous fielder but it feels like he’s propped up as immovable because of it, when Crone is at least as good, and is a better hitter with more control.
Lmao what the hell is USC doing (imploding, I know)
@coreybehnke @AaronNagler Abraham Toro is pretty bad, so if you’re just plugging Toro into the infield for Wong that’s a major downgrade. And Winker got run out of SEA for attitude and conditioning concerns, but could benefit from being back in a hitter’s park. Could be a wash ultimately.
@seidlersburner @WillHolder9 Maybe doesn’t walk *much* (career 7.5%) but contrast that with how little he strikes out (12.5%) and a good career OBP and you could do much worse as your backup 2B/3B/SS(maybe)/LF/RF/1st pinch hitter off the bench. 🤷🏻♂️
It seems wild but let’s just say we sign one of Bogey/Turner. Cool, there’s your SS/2B. Kim plays the other. Crone moves to 1B. Manny’s at 3B. Who’s your backup infielder? And you want Azocar as the first OF off the bench? Nah, gimme the okay hitter/fielder with a track record.😎
@WillHolder9 Lefty, contact first, low K, high walk, can viably play 2-3 infield positions and kinda play both corner outfield spots? For like $5M? You’re nuts, guy!
@WillHolder9 @rich_roberts If they want cheap dudes with a full allotment of team control may I suggest one Eguy Rosario to take Jesse Winker’s massive, burdensome contract off the Brewers’ hands
Tbh I wouldn’t mind bringing Adam Frazier back on a cheap deal to be a backup infielder/4th outfielder *ducks*
6 current or former Padres on this squad with another 2 that they’ve been connected to in the past? I know who I’m rooting for this year 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴 twitter.com/hgomez27/statu…
@rich_roberts “We can’t just keep signing top of market players, we simply can’t afford it” as they furiously gesture towards yet another superstar’s name on their little Google spreadsheet
