@grok Are humans, the only type, to be able to mimick the sounds of other animals? Why did human's vocal anatomy evolve in a way to produce so many sounds?
Why doesn't my cat speak the language I speak? I mean, a new born human child will start picking up words in 7 to 8 months.
Why don't domesticated animals can't pick up human language?
What makes human brain so special?
#humanbrain#cats
@grok Do humans who cannot speak lack FOXP2 gene variant? Or is it due to faulty vocal anatomy?
Also, why is it that these animals (cats, dogs, cows, etc.) have distinct sounds? A cat can easily say 'M-E-O-W' and a dog can say 'B-O-W'. Is it because of different vocal anatomies?
I’m convinced that intelligence is overrated.
Intelligent people are more likely to overthink, overplan, and overanalyze. They hide behind motion that doesn't create progress. They fear the judgment of others if they're proven wrong.
The truth is that intelligence is abundant. Especially now. AI is making it a commodity. Courage is not. And it can’t be replaced. The people you admire are the ones who had the courage to act. They aren’t more talented than you. They aren’t smarter than you. They just took action when you didn’t.
I often wonder how many extraordinary people wasted their entire lives waiting for permission that never came. Permission isn't granted. Permission is taken. You get to tap yourself in whenever you want. You can just do things.
Courage beats intelligence. Remember that.
Two open problems on channel capacities in QIT was solved with AI assist. We are entering a point where AI may surpass human limits and auto-research is emerging. Future is hard to extrapolate. Agents empower us to solve harder problems and open new directions beyond imagination.
1/6 Frontier LLM models just helped us solve an open problem on quantum channel capacity (arxiv.org/abs/2607.24693) I’d been stuck on since 2022, when @wangxinfelix first posed it to me. I honestly don’t think I would have completed this work without AI assistance.
Formally verified general relativity: simulating the electrodynamics of black hole magnetospheres and the mechanisms of black hole jet-launching, all implemented and verified autonomously with Lanyon.
~12,000 lines of C, ~25,000 lines of Lean proof, ~150 correctness theorems, ~5 minutes.
Solving Maxwell's equations in full general relativity, including options for hyperbolicity-preservation and divergence error-correction, using a second-order spatially accurate numerical scheme. Including full proofs of convergence, stability, and geometric consistency for the implementation in arbitrary spacetime metrics. Then applying the solver to the curved spacetime region around a rapidly-spinning black hole.
Lanyon derived the equations, implemented the algorithms, and produced end-to-end proofs of correctness for everything. All within ~5 minutes, and all fully autonomously, from just a single natural language prompt. Extreme environments? Complex geometries? Not a problem.

Since the hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi is personally handling the burning issue of paper leaks, I urge him to personally intervene on the ethanol blending policy as well.
Just because everyday working-class citizens aren't protesting on the streets doesn't mean this isn't a crisis. Most people can't afford to take leave from work to protest, but that doesn't lessen the severity of the issue.
The public is the biggest stakeholder in fuel policy. People save their hard-earned money for years to buy vehicles and pay taxes, only for officials to unilaterally introduce fuel blends that existing vehicle engines were never designed to handle.
Bringing E20 when most of the existing vehicle fleet was incompatible was already a misstep. Now, as people buy E20-compliant cars, there are talks of pushing to E27 by 2030. Where is the long-term clarity? Policies of such massive scale cannot be left to the whims and siloed decisions of one or two ministers and their teams.
The public deserves a logical, transparent, long-term roadmap with clear timelines so buyers can make informed decisions. Respectfully requesting intervention.
Just heard Nirmala Sitharaman explain one of the benefits of the NEET leak and retest.
I would like to apologize for my shallow complaints as I now understand the deep ways in which government makes citizens become better.
I don't understand why the government has given cabinet portfolio to someone who was not even elected by the people. Let alone the grassroot politics, she doesn't even seem to acknowledge the financial hardships of common citizens.
Though the ruling party’s ecosystem praises Nirmala Sitharaman as the best finance minister, I have explained many times, with details, why she is the worst finance minister in post liberalised India.
I was not surprised when she said that the NEET re-exam gave students an

Unpopular Academic Advice #11: I often hear graduate students say they do not know how to make connections or socialize with faculty at conferences.
I do not consider myself to have particularly strong social skills. I am quite introverted, and my husband describes me as “the biggest nerd.” But I am sincerely curious about people. I ask about their research, careers, and stories. Often, out of courtesy, they ask me about my research in return. When I tell people about my research, I always try to make it interesting and naturally show my excitement. That is how they gradually get to know me.
This apparently also works outside academia. When I first met my husband (a quantitative marketing PhD student who had little interest in demography at that time), I told him about my research on historical demography in China, specifically, sex ratios at sexual maturity and later-life mortality. He later said he was excited to see me again because he wanted to hear about my other interesting research.
For anyone equally nerdy, the paper is here:
sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
My advice: do not try too hard to “network.” Be sincere, be curious, and ask good questions. Nerdiness, properly deployed, can be a social skill.
Sadly, unless you pay $200 per month (230 EUR if you’re European 🙂), you’re no longer as competitive in quantum info theory (as I guess in any applied-math topic).
THIS IS NOT A PAPER ON ARXIV!
I want to spread more concern and awareness in our quantum information community about the current AI situation with examples, and try to stimulate important discussions that our community needs to have!
QIP will be a good time or will be too late?
Using agentic AI for scientific research has been an utterly fascinating experience. I can't remember the last time in my scientific career when I tackled such a stunning variety of problems with so much complexity and - most importantly - derived meaningful, reasonable answers and novel hypotheses in a matter of hours.
From agriculture to drug discovery, materials to synthetic biology, medicine to engineering, you feel like the world is your oyster. You can pose a problem to the system at breakfast and genuinely expect to arrive at an actionable and potentially novel solution by dinner, if not lunch.
This is the very definition of living in an accelerated age, a kind of New Enlightenment made possible by technology. For all their purported evils, science and technology are the most enabling creations of mankind, and very few times in our history has this been as true as it is now. We are blessed.
The Trump administration will limit how long a foreign student can remain in the U.S. on a student visa under a new regulation announced on Thursday, increasing the hurdles for foreign students and universities’ ability to recruit them.
