Alistair Darling was the man that alongside Brown, shielded us from ruin during a global financial crisis. Darling served in a government of decent, talented, moral professionals that just quietly governed with integrity in the public interest. A far cry from where we are now.
@supertanskiii Nope. I will not speak ill of the departed. I will consider his legacy. In life, he cared little for Scotland and lied - without loss of sleep - to ensure a demonstrably false and demented 'union' condemned Scots to another decade of wretched Tory misery. His legacy.
@supertanskiii And he and Brown did this while our current PM was shorting banks shares to make himself his share of £100m and ruining the British economy into the bargain. Sunak is a fraud, a corrupt tax thief and an economic vandal.
@supertanskiii Did he? Or did they bail out the bankers and print billions? Costing the tax payer for a decade?
@supertanskiii Darling and Brown have never got the recognition they deserve for saving us from catastrophe from the global banking crisis. Throughout they were a safe pair of hands. All they got was blamed for corrupt bankers playing the markets
@supertanskiii @xpatjock I can't praise Brown - his ego drove him beyond his abilities. Darling on the other hand was a magnificent Chancellor who proved himself in what imho was the worst financial crisis in my life. I hope for all our sakes there are others like him in the wings. @RIPAlistairDarling
@supertanskiii A great unassuming public servant. RiP
@supertanskiii And shackled Scotland to Westminster.
@supertanskiii 2014 better together. Er. No. As I said in brown, a decade it took to recapitalise the banks and we all struggled whilst they did that. They’re fine now whilst we toil with cost of living/brexit. Brown and darling weren’t brave enough to let one go down
