Je suis complètement d'accord avec Luc Ferry. Le fait que l'on ne mette pas au pied du mur les idées relatives au communisme m'a toujours fasciné. On compare le régime nazi au régime communiste, et en fait, je pense que collectivement, le jour où on associera enfin les idées communistes et marxistes au pire système que l'humanité ait jamais produit en termes de morts, on pourra peut-être commencer à avancer. Les chiffres, parlons-en sérieusement. Nazisme : environ 25 millions de morts. Horreur absolue, condamnée partout, à juste titre. Communisme : environ 100 millions de morts. Le Livre noir du communisme, dirigé par Stéphane Courtois, l'a documenté pays par pays, avec une équipe d'historiens. URSS sous Staline : 20 millions de morts. Goulag, Holodomor, purges, déportations. Chine sous Mao : entre 45 et 65 millions selon les estimations. Le seul Grand Bond en avant (1958-1962), c'est entre 20 et 45 millions de morts par famine organisée. Frank Dikötter parle de millions de personnes battues à mort. Mao en personne, lors d'une réunion à Shanghai en 1959 : "quand il n'y a pas assez de nourriture, des gens meurent de faim. Il vaut mieux laisser mourir la moitié de la population pour que l'autre puisse manger." Cambodge sous Pol Pot : 1,7 million de morts, soit un quart de la population du pays exterminé en 4 ans. Record absolu d'efficacité génocidaire. Corée du Nord, Vietnam, Éthiopie de Mengistu, Cuba, Roumanie de Ceaușescu, Allemagne de l'Est. Partout où l'idéologie a été appliquée, le même résultat : famines, goulags, terreur de masse, dictature. Et pourtant. Pourtant, en 2026, en France, on peut afficher Marx, Lénine, Mao sur un t-shirt et passer pour un type cool. On peut citer Trotski en soirée et passer pour un intellectuel. On peut être député de la République et défendre Cuba ou le Venezuela sans qu'aucun journaliste ne demande des comptes. Imaginez deux secondes l'inverse. Imaginez quelqu'un défendant publiquement le national-socialisme parce que "l'idée de base était bonne mais elle a été mal appliquée." Carrière finie en 30 secondes. Et c'est très bien comme ça. Alors pourquoi le double standard ? Parce qu'on a accepté l'idée que le communisme est une "belle idée mal appliquée." C'est faux. Profondément faux. Le communisme, dans sa logique même, suppose la suppression de la propriété privée, donc la coercition, donc la police politique, donc le camp, donc la fosse commune. Hayek l'avait expliqué dès 1944 dans La Route de la servitude : la planification centralisée mène mécaniquement au totalitarisme. Mises l'avait démontré encore avant : sans prix, pas de calcul économique possible, donc pénurie, donc rationnement, donc terreur. Ce ne sont pas des dérives. C'est le programme. Tant que la France considérera qu'on peut être communiste comme on est socialiste ou écologiste, qu'on peut citer Marx en cours d'éco sans citer ses 100 millions de morts, qu'on peut faire défiler le drapeau rouge dans les manifs sans susciter le même rejet que le drapeau noir à croix gammée, on n'aura pas fait le travail historique. Ferry a raison. Il faut le dire. Et le redire. Le pire système politique de l'histoire de l'humanité s'appelle le communisme. Pas par accident. Par construction.

Anthropic asked the Vatican for help because their AI was moving too fast for them to control. A 60 year old Catholic priest who used to be a tech executive is now writing the rules for how Claude thinks. Here is how a man of God ended up inside one of the most powerful AI companies on earth. His name is Father Brendan McGuire. He runs a small parish in Los Altos, California. Some of Silicon Valley's top AI researchers sit in his pews on Sundays. But before he was a priest, he was one of them. Studied cryptosystems at Trinity College Dublin in the 1980s. Moved to America. Became the executive director of PCMCIA, the organization that basically standardized how memory cards work in every computer. Had degrees in engineering and software. Could have been a millionaire in the Valley ten times over. He walked away from all of it to serve God. But then Anthropic called. Chris Olah, one of Anthropic's co-founders, reached out to him directly. McGuire said they were basically asking the Vatican for help because the industry was moving so fast down this road that they needed someone to pump the brakes. His words: "They basically were asking for direct help from the Vatican to convene and help the industry, because the industry was going so fast down this road." So this priest, along with a Vatican Bishop named Paul Tighe and a tech ethics director from Santa Clara University, sat down and helped rewrite the Claude Constitution. That is the set of rules that tells Claude what it can and cannot do. What it should care about. How it should think. A priest helped write the conscience of an AI. And it gets wilder. Anthropic actually sued the US government because the Pentagon wanted to use their AI for autonomous warfare and domestic surveillance. Anthropic said no. Got effectively blacklisted for it. Catholic scholars then filed a federal court brief defending Anthropic, saying their ethical limits represent "minimal standards of ethical conduct for technical progress." McGuire almost filed his own brief. He said "they are having a moral conversation. They may not call it moral, but I call it moral." Meanwhile this 60 year old priest is now writing a novel using Claude about a monk and his AI companion. The working title is "The Soul of AI: A Priest, an Algorithm, and the Search for Wisdom." He also said something that stuck with me. "I think we have to help these machines be tilted towards good, otherwise they are just going to reflect back the good and evil of the world. That is a horrifying thing, right?" The biggest AI companies in the world are building machines that think. And the person they called to make sure those machines have a conscience was not another engineer. It was a priest.

Claude Mythos Preview a identifié des milliers de failles zero-day dans tous les systèmes d'exploitation majeurs et tous les navigateurs web. La plus ancienne remonte à 1999, un bug dans OpenBSD dormant depuis 27 ans, invisible aux outils automatisés qui l'avaient analysé cinq millions de fois sans le détecter. Face à cela, Anthropic a pris une décision sans précédent : ne pas déployer le modèle au public. À la place, l'entreprise lance Project Glasswing, une coalition de 40 partenaires (AWS, Apple, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorganChase, la Linux Foundation, Microsoft, Nvidia, Palo Alto Networks...) avec un engagement de $100 millions en crédits de compute et $4 millions en dons directs aux organisations open source. L'objectif officiel : donner aux défenseurs cyber une longueur d'avance sur les attaquants avant que ces capacités ne se démocratisent. On n'avait jamais vu une entreprise dire aussi clairement que son propre modèle était trop dangereux pour être commercialisé. Ce n'est pas un modèle qui flirte avec des lignes directrices de sécurité, c'est un modèle capable de construire une cyberattaque sur infrastructure critique en quasi-autonomie, selon les termes mêmes d'Anthropic. Les chiffres donnent le vertige : des milliers de vulnérabilités critiques, certaines dormantes depuis des décennies dans des logiciels installés sur des milliards de machines. En positionnant Mythos comme "trop puissant pour le grand public", Anthropic s'assure simultanément une couverture presse massive, des relations privilégiées avec les plus grandes entreprises du monde, et une image d'entreprise responsable dans un secteur où le mot "sécurité" est souvent du décorum.

Quatre milliardaires qui débattent chaque semaine de tech, économie et politique avec une franchise que vous ne trouverez nulle part en France. Y Combinator. Chaque talk de Startup School est gratuit sur YouTube. C'est l'accélérateur le plus successful de l'histoire qui donne ses secrets gratuitement. Et quasi personne en France ne regarde. On Easter, of all days, we as Christians should be reminded that the son of God died and rose from the grave so that we can be forgiven once and for all of our sins. Jesus commanded us to love one another and forgive one another. Even our enemies. Our President is not a Christian and his words and actions should not be supported by Christians. Christians in the administration should be pursuing peace. Urging the President to make peace. Not escalating war that is hurting people. This NOT what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly voted in 2024, I know, I was there more than most. This is not making America great again, this is evil.

Spoiler alert : être locataire à Paris est BEAUCOUP plus intéressant que d'être propriétaire. Acheter un appartement à Paris en 2026, c'est littéralement jeter son argent par la fenêtre. Petite étude de cas pour vous expliquer, sur 10 ans et sur 20 ans ⤵️ En synthèse : 1) Le rendement locatif de l'immobilier à Paris, c'est pas fou : 2,5-3%. 2) Le coût de l'argent aujourd'hui est supérieur au rendement locatif : rien qu'avec les intérêts, vous êtes perdant ! 3) Tout l'argent que vous apportez pour acheter votre appart, c'est de l'argent que vous placez à 2,5-3% (i.e. l'économie de loyer que vous générez), alors que vous auriez pu le placer à 6% minimum sur les marchés. C'est une ENORME destruction de valeur. Sur 20 ans, un locataire aura économisé près d'UN MILLION d'euros par rapport à un propriétaire qui aurait acheté son appart sans prêt bancaire.

There are times when it feels like we've been doing thousands of years of philosophy just to prepare for the current moment.

So this was pretty controversial... Here's my thoughts: 1. Most comments seem to come from a basic misunderstanding that "drafting" = "writing" There's a LOT of work needed to bring a rough draft to polished completion, and most of the work is actually editing for that reason. I'm saving maybe 30-40% of the total time required to write these pieces, which allows me to concentrate my attention on the editing that adds more value 2. So far I've only used this AI-assisted writing system for what I consider my lowest value, least important articles I.e. summaries of books or papers, distilling takeaways from courses or conferences, or fleshing out research for my books or other long-form articles. These are pieces I would have never found the time to write myself, so it's not "replacing" my writing in any sense Over time I hope that AI gets better at writing and takes over other kinds of writing too, so I can always concentrate my time on the highest-order, most novel or valuable ideas, not the scaffolding needed to support them 3. It's better to be open and transparent about how we use AI in writing, rather than hide it In my private conversations, virtually every writer I know is using AI in some way, at some stage of the writing process. But mostly they are afraid to disclose it, and these comments explain why I'd much rather run a series of open experiments that compare and contrast human vs. AI writing, so we can arrive at a hybrid that combines the best of both. I think that new synthesis is key to making writing more sustainable and lucrative for writers, and more impactful and accessible for readers It's currently not good enough, but soon I think it will be, and I'd like to be informed and capable of leveraging it once it arrives at that point 4. More philosophically, I'm opposed to the parochial, precious pearl clutching on display when ppl have a knee-jerk negative reaction to using AI in creative work Some writing is for the purpose of pure, unfiltered human self-expression, but certainly not all or even most of it I've accomplished every goal I have for my writing, and developed my writing craft as far as I want to. So from here on out, my interest is in making it more useful and accurate, more accessible and customized, more direct and succinct I view writing as a problem-solving tool primarily, and there are SO many problems we're not going to be able to solve if we treat it as this artisanal mystery, and put it on a pedestal no technology is allowed to approach As a bonus, I enjoy tearing down the conception people have of me, my work, writing and creativity in general, as usually behind every sacred cow is a more honest outlook that doesn't treat humans as the center of the universe, which we're not
