This is just revisionist history. Phil threw some back breaking meatball subs in the worst possible spots also.

Get a real receiver & sign some decent offensive lineman and I promise the narrative around Justin Herbert will change. The Chargers have failed to put talent around Herbert year in and year out.

I’ve been watching football for a couple of decades, and I genuinely can’t remember a QB who’s been let down more consistently by his own organization than Justin Herbert. This game is just another example. This isn’t recency bias. It isn’t engagement bait. It’s an observation that’s become impossible to ignore. At some point, people need to stop asking what Herbert hasn’t accomplished and start asking what the Chargers have done to help him accomplish it. WR1-3 out, 4 rookies on the line. 1st down handoff for 0 yards. 2nd down handoff for 1 yard. 3rd and 9, Herbert do something with the worst WR room and o-line in the game! Rinse and repeat. Just painful to watch…If you actually watch it.

For extra context 📊 Before Kyle Shanahan’s offense helped Matt Ryan win MVP, Ryan was still trying to stop thinking through every snap. That transition may offer some context for what Justin Herbert is experiencing now. Ryan explained that he had “four or five seconds” in his head spent sorting through the offense. As he became more comfortable, Ryan said he could stop thinking about the system and focus more on the defense, protections and coverage. Then there was the footwork. Ryan believed sloppy footwork contributed to his mistakes. That offseason, he practiced his drops in front of a mirror, working to match his feet with the timing of each play. Years later, Shanahan provided more context during a 2023 press conference. Ryan was already in Year 8 and had played for multiple coordinators. “There’s a lot more football in his head,” Shanahan said. Shanahan also said Ryan was “a lot more comfortable” in Year 2. And Ryan later explained what playing quarterback in Shanahan’s offense requires: “Timing. Trust. Footwork.” The results? Year 1: 21 TD | 16 INT | 89.0 rating Year 2: 38 TD | 7 INT | 117.1 rating | NFL MVP Herbert isn’t Matt Ryan. But Ryan’s experience shows there is precedent for an established quarterback needing time to stop thinking through a new offense and start playing naturally within it. Private Equity has fully encroached on Youth Sports. They are preying on the fears of parents, convincing them that their kids are behind their peers, and forcing the kids to specialize WAY too early. They manipulate parents into paying outrageous fees for travel teams, showcase tournaments, and bogus recruiting services. Private Equity DOES NOT care about your kids. They don't care about the development of young athletes. They don't even care about sports at all. They ONLY care about profit. They worship the almighty dollar. They will promise you the world while they shake you down for every penny. Resist the grift. Push back on the lies.

Herbert throws a 25-yard sidearm pass off his back foot in a collapsing pocket directly to his target, only to have one of his own players decide to play defense and knock it away.

There are very real people out there who are very actually blaming Justin Herbert for this incompletion. This is a great throw. It's just a really stupid tight end.

This has been 3 Quarters of the classic “Not Herbert’s fault” game. He has played well. He has been severely let down again.

Here's the Rams travel schedule for their game against the 49ers in Australia. • Practice this morning • Leave for Melbourne tonight • Wednesday is a lost day traveling • Land in Melbourne Thursday morning • Play at 10:35 am local time on Friday • Fly back to the US immediately after • Land in Los Angeles midday Friday That means the Rams will spend more than 30 hours on an airplane, travel over 15,000 miles, cross 7 time zones, and play a football game, yet technically be back in Los Angeles less than 72 hours after leaving.
