The team I get to work with has decided to burn the boats. There's no going back. There is too much at stake for The @ORContingent as we serve in these times where the world is on fire. Today begins a new era after making major decisions last week. "All in" is the only option.

Bob has spent his entire career in law enforcement, rising to Deputy Chief at @PortlandPolice . When Bob read my post, he had some concerns about my perspective. What happened next? He reached out to me privately and asked for an in-person conversation. (2/4)
We just walked across bridges and did a loop of the river downtown for almost two hours. That’s a metaphor too. I believe Bob is right as he shared with me that our country’s issues with law enforcement are the “canary in the coal mine.” (3/4)
Trust isn’t just dissolving with police. It’s dissolving everywhere. What do we do? We ask for time and we walk across bridges. We won’t always agree, but it’s the relational loop that will hold us together. (4/4)
