I'm not loving the STR. syntax of Java 22 string templates, but the convenience is very welcome. Java continues to get nicer. Maybe it's the unJava-like caps that bother me... Python's f" seems less intrusive.

So far the only casualty of my Java 22 upgrade is that Jacoco appears to be silently failing to instrument much of my code. I've tried upgrading to the snapshot that supports Java 22 but Maven doesn't seem to be able to find it in any repo

Just realized the irony of the fact that I have spent my afternoon listening to the English pastoral school (mostly Vaughn Williams) while working on Gen AI.
I think easy integration with existing apps--Gen AI enhancement--will be a huge deal. And that's where languages like Java will be really important. Python will remain the language of ML ops, but AI-enhanced business apps will stay on their default stack.

@springrod I think the real challenge will be to convince classic enterprises, where a lot of the Java business development is done, to adopt these new applications. At least I know what to do the next couple of years.

Direction is much more important than speed.
It will never stop being a surprise to me that we only had one computer literate generation.
The worst part of doing tech support for a game in 2024 is that none of these kids know how fucking files and folders work anymore. They have no idea how to find ANYTHING on their own computers.
