@brombinmirko Looks fantastic. Only element I'm not a fan of is the top bar, since having a clock and a few controls seems like a crazy waste of vertical screen real estate, especially on laptops. On macOS there's global app menus to justify taking up the space.

@starga93054 @vermaden Exactly. Can't they keep using SDDM or something else that's more FreeBSD friendly? KDE sessions can launch from other login managers or even tty (PAM unlocking kwallet). Also, I wonder how many of the Systemd haters have actually used it daily. Systemd init is fast.

@popovicu94 OpenBSD/FreeBSD are so under hyped. They deserve more awareness and respect. I know they quietly power lots of things, but I’m a bit concerned the younger generations aren’t using or learning about them as much. We need more software like this!

@NekoMichiUBC Many years ago I had a very janky new G4 iBook doing exactly the same thing, among other defects. I complained to [email protected]. Ended up with a loaner Powerbook + new iBook and they refused to take the loaner back.

@CodecDetection @BetaProfiles I feel like you might have it the wrong way around. Boomers love (and rely on) over the top animations to help provide explicit motion and context cues. They get confused and cranky when things are too snappy😄

@BetaProfiles Looks awesome in a demo, but waiting through the animations they shipped every time you perform common actions makes iOS feel like wading in molasses. Kind of excessive for 2025. We don’t need such exaggerated and slow visual cues for basic UI patterns.
