10/ FUBC collection was also associated with prolonged LOS (median 11 vs 7 days). This difference persisted after adjusting for multiple potential confounders (adjusted RR 1.17, 95% CI 1.15–1.19) and in two different sensitivity analyses addressing potential immortal time bias.
11/ Overall, our findings call into question the purported benefit of FUBCs in patients with GN-BSI. Routine FUBC collection is not without harm and can be associated with excessive resource use, prolonged LOS, and⬆️pickup of contaminants, without clear clinical benefit.

The Game Changer Trial (cefiderocol versus standard of care for hospital-acquired bloodstream infection) is fully recruited (>500 patients). We are now eagerly awaiting the results. The hypothesis is non-inferiority but superiority will be examined if non-inferiority is achieved.
