@sarahezekiel #EstherRatzen has made me very angry in this context. I used to work in a hospice, so I understand her desperately sad situation, but many people won't be able to separate her situation from disability. Slippery slopes can start far too easily.
@sarahezekiel That is your experience, however there are many people especially elderly who suffer appalling deaths in pain and suffering with no hope of any quality of life . Every circumstance is different , its wrong to impose your choices on others #AssistedDying

@sarahezekiel It's so personal isn't it. That's what makes it such a wicked problem. How do we give everyone choice over their death, support them in a decision that at the time seems right for them but experience tells us may not be in the longer term AND stop the system being used for abuse

@sarahezekiel Having been in the same position I understand what you mean but I suppose that’s where “checks and balances“ of a policy would come into play. I’d hope any policy would have stringent and numerous checks on a person. Whether we’ve got good enough policymakers is another thing!
Thank you for raising this really important consideration. I have internal battles about my own thoughts on this topic. Whilst now I can confidently say what I would not want to live with or like… what happens if I changed my mind on that journey? 😕😕 #ItsImportantToTalk
I was so depressed and frightened after my diagnosis of #MND and soon became disabled. I wanted to die and if #AssistedDying had been legal I wouldn't be here now. I would have missed the best years of my life and my children would have grown up without a mother. #JustSaying
