Yesterday, @sequoia released their highly anticipated talk on Al from their Al Ascent event. This is a must-listen for those building Al companies/ curious about Al. Here are some of my favourite insights from the talk: 1. Al may be the greatest value creation opportunity mankind has ever known, potentially worth tens of trillions of dollars 2. Generative Al has already reached ~$3B in revenue in its first year; it took the SaaS market a decade to reach that level 3. The number of workers needed at an S&P 500 company to generate $1M revenue is declining rapidly 4. Al is unlocking productivity gains across industries like automating 2/3 of customer service inquiries at Klarna (equivalent to 700 full-time agents) 5. Al could reduce costs for sectors like education and healthcare that have risen faster than inflation.

@sahilypatel @sequoia I wish there was a @CommunityNotes for the left-hand chart of the "Radical Cost Reduction" slide. That data isn't adjusted for inflation; when it is, the effect is much smaller (and nil over the last 20 years). Much of it is explained by the rise in contract work.
@sahilypatel @sequoia thanks for putting these insights together! 🤙
@sahilypatel @sequoia Thanks @sahilypatel for sharing this.
@sahilypatel @sequoia I’m hopeful that we can cut costs out of healthcare. I guess I’m curious as to how still.
