Falklands veteran. Dragged handcuffed and unconscious into a Hull custody suite. Left face down on the floor. Officers stood around while he choked to death. Ten minutes before anyone helped. Inquest: unlawful killing. Five officers charged. All acquitted. Sean Rigg, 2008. Schizophrenic man, died at Brixton police station after restraint. Inquest found "unsuitable and unnecessary force" and police failings "more than minimally" contributed to his death. Robert Edwards, 2011. Died in a Suffolk cell. The IPCC found police "failed to take appropriate care" and didn't carry out proper welfare checks. The coroner said he should never have been deemed fit for detention. Wayne Couzens, 2015–2021. Reported for indecent exposure in 2015. Kent Police had his name, address, and plate number. The investigating sergeant knew his brother, also a police officer. No action. Failed vetting twice, still became a Met officer. Exposed himself days before murdering Sarah Everard. The investigating officer lied about CCTV. Three forces had twenty years of red flags. Nothing to do with DEI Post-Floyd, still no DEI involvement: Stephen Reardon, 2023, had seizures in a police van while the officer said he was "playing games". Died. Jerome Cowan, 2022, found unresponsive in a library, officers failed to provide first aid. Died. A man at St Erth, 2022, left drunk and vulnerable outside a railway station on a cold night, officers drove past without stopping. Died. All officers dismissed or facing gross misconduct. Same pattern every time. A person in distress needs help, officers dismiss it or walk away. It happened in 1998, 2008, 2011, 2022, 2023, and 2025. DEI didn't create it. It predates it by a generation. You also claim "determined, institutional silence". The Speaker acknowledged the case on 1 June. The Home Secretary called it "a horrifying act" and Digwa's false accusation "an evil act" in an oral statement to the Commons on 2 June. Debated in both Houses. Starmer and Baddenoch clashed over it. Front-page news for a week. There is no silence. You invented it because your baseless argument needs it. You ask pretentiously what you call a system where a dying teenager's word counts for less than his killer's. I'd ask you: what do you call a system where Christopher Alder choked to death on a custody floor in 1998 while officers stood around, and twenty-seven years later Henry Nowak bled to death saying the same words? That is an ideology. But not the one you're describing. It's an institutional ideology of indifference to people in police custody, and it has been killing people for decades. Blaming a training course that's existed for five years for a rot that's existed for hundreds of years isn't analysis. It's a deflection that protects the actual dangerous ideology.

Public spending as %-of-GDP isn't high because we've had a period of Leftwing hegemony. (Outside of the arts, the academy & the social/cultural policy sphere, that's obvious nonsense). Rather, it's high because: 👉Demographic pressures have pushed up the 2 massive spending outlays, health & pensions – a problem common to the vast majority of Western democracies 👉UK growth/productivity has been stagnant for ~18yrs, since The City of London collapsed under the weight of its own poor investments, while spending pressures have continued to grow apace 👉We have a growing (& expensive) debt pile as a result of the taxpayer twice being forced to bail out the private sector to the tune of several hundred £BN – 1st during GFC, 2nd during Covid lockdown 👉We have huge revenue pressures from "sticking plaster" subsidies covering up the underlying issue of chronic low investment, e.g. housing benefits ballooning while municipal capex on housebuilding shrinks; or tax credits/UC top-ups disguising stagnant real wages; or increasing day-to-day NHS spending after years of squeezed capital budgets/social care sector collapse Neoliberalism is defined by privatisation, the embrace of globalisation/free trade, monetarist central banking, the emasculation of the labour movement, & the transformation of the state from a prime actor in national production/investment into a post-hoc fiscal distributor. It has been consciously driven by market-liberal true believers (some even self-identifying as "neoliberals") – on the Right by Hayekian/Friedmanite think tanks, business groups & various Conservative ideologues, and on the Left by Third Way modernisers (see Blair) and their intellectual forebears in Marxism Today's revisionism, the Democratic Left etc. etc. Pretending none of this happened (because 'muh the state still spends £££') is pure sophistry. They want us to believe they didn't sell off airlines, steelmakers, coal mines, energy generators, water companies, car manufacturers, banks, bus/train contracts & millions of council houses. That they didn't deregulate financial services to get their 'Big Bang'. That they didn't abolish rent controls, or capital/exchange controls, or wage boards, or price commissions. That they didn't outsource core services and state capacity to corporate providers. That they didn't impose some of the most draconian/restrictive trade union laws in the democratic West. That they didn't cede monetary policy to an independent central bank, or cede trade/migration policy to an unelected, supranational, continental bureaucracy. That they didn't squeeze public investment or prioritise tax cuts over infrastructure spending. That they didn't eschew industrial policy and take a lax approach to deindustrialisation because the future was services & the "knowledge economy". This isn't simpy an accumulation of random policy titbits, but is the outcome of a coherent intellectual project that has consistently rebalanced the labour/capital relationship in the latter's favour. These people are conning you.

Le 2 mars, dans une note de 21 pages révélée par Contexte, les autorités françaises ont transmis à Bruxelles leurs priorités pour le nouveau Digital Fairness Act (DFA), texte prévu pour l'automne 2026. Au milieu d'un programme classique un point passe inaperçu et mérite qu'on s'y arrête : « Les autorités françaises proposent de retenir, au nombre de diverses options graduées, un double dispositif articulant contrôle parental et vérification de l'âge qui pourrait reposer sur les plateformes […] ou sur les fabricants de consoles. » L'argumentaire est emballé dans le vocabulaire santé publique habituel : les loot boxes (caisses à butin) sont qualifiées d'«objet numérique susceptible de représenter un enjeu de santé publique pour les mineurs». Concrètement, Nintendo, Sony et Microsoft devraient intégrer au sein même de leurs appareils une fonctionnalité de détermination de l'âge du joueur. Aucun précédent européen ne formalisait jusqu'ici la responsabilité des fabricants de consoles. La note ne précise pas le « comment » — biométrie ? carte d'identité ? wallet européen ? Et elle élude la question des PC, plus prisés que les consoles pour de nombreux jeux en ligne. 🚨 Demain le PC, après-demain le téléviseur connecté, plus tard l'écouteur Bluetooth ? La logique est sans fin parce qu'elle ne porte pas sur un objet, mais sur un principe : chaque interface numérique devient un point de contrôle d'identité. La protection des mineurs est devenue le levier universel d'extension de la vérification d'identité. C'est efficace politiquement — personne ne défend les loot boxes — et c'est imparable juridiquement, parce que la jurisprudence européenne admet plus volontiers les restrictions justifiées par la protection de l'enfance. 🎯 Mais l'effet pratique est invariable : pour vérifier qu'un joueur est mineur, il faut vérifier que les autres ne le sont pas. Donc identifier tout le monde. L'anonymat des majeurs devient le dommage collatéral systématique de la protection des mineurs.

Attention à ne pas cliquer trop vite sur « j’accepte » en pensant que c’est juste une enieme demande de cookies…

They find governing challenging against the backdrop of struggling public services and low growth, and make unforced errors (winter fuel, Mandelson etc). Social media conspiracies, led by Elon Musk, contribute to a toxic political climate. Nigel Farage, the architect-in-chief of Brexit (which made things harder than they needed to be) pops up with his divisive rhetoric and poorly thought through policies and… Labour MPs, egged on by the media, panic. If Andy Burnham, a man without a plan, wins a staged by-election, he likely becomes Prime Minister. He then either calls a general election and loses Labour its hard fought majority, or struggles through for a couple of years before Farage is better “prepared” to move into Number 10. Stupid doesn’t cover it.
