@coastal_quant You can actually get a pretty close answer with quantiles. There is a formula but it’s pretty complex. You can also guesstimate..where do you think you’ll end up at? What range of values if n=100? Choose a k that is large and that you pay 1$ for re roll.

Starting a series on quant finance. Here is a cool question I got in one of my interviews: Given a 100-sided die and you get paid the number you roll, with k re-rolls, how much would you pay to play that game? What about n-sided die? What if you had to pay X to re-roll?
