I visited the Gaza solidarity camp at Columbia yesterday and wanted to share a few very brief observations. First, it's one of the most highly organised student protests I've ever seen. They have media and de-escalation training, a nutzone to protest students with allergies.

The reason I say its practical impact is negligible is bc compared to the hypocritical pro-genocide outrage it’s inevitably met with, it’s nothing. But imo it’s not just insulting, but a serious theoretical error that would be dangerous if it ever gained mass acceptance

Jews & many other peoples historically don’t have a “real home.” If I belong anywhere in the world more than I do in Palestine it’s bc it involves less direct complicity in an active project for ethnic cleansing, not bc that it’s more of a ‘real’ home historically or personally

@jacremes For better or worse, I mostly just wanted to learn stuff. Probably I should have been thinking more about my career and/or the greater social good but I was geekier than that, which doesn’t serve anyone’s material interest but I thought that was what college was for.
@DavidKlion It's also a deeply confused understanding of how both social movements and industry work. Most people aren't and don't aspire to be either MLK or the leader of a company; and neither King nor CEOs are the most important people in their fields.
