@h_sleepingirl I've previously used self-hypnosis to regulate migraines. It's a lost skill now. I'd recommend some level of caution because doing so can slip into just dissocating the pain away which can lead to negative outcomes, but yeah it was a pretty good skill to have

@hotline_aguirre @madtranny But it's a fundamental error to think that because the former happens, the latter happens. In cases where the latter happens, it leaves out all the extreme circumstances that are required Point being, people don't falsely recall traumatic experiences for trivial reasons.

It draws a connection between phenomena everyone is familiar with (one's own memory being imperfect, or thinking you did something when you didn't) and something much more severe (intense recall of a traumatic experience).

@sluagh_sith @WeAreAlexandra FWIW, we've told our therapist and she's always been good about our plurality. Not telling a therapist wouldn't be an option for us, because how else do we even do therapy? If a therapist pulls shite as described, we'd just end the therapy.

@SheepwaveN Can't say why other folks self-describe like that, but it makes sense to us - our system includes a trans man who self-describes as us because our body is transitioned to female, so "amab trans man" would apply to him (though we don't use amab/afab descriptors)

@SheepwaveN @yuriposting 💜 I thought of contrast with stories where the character comes pre-broken due to being a trans woman without access to HRT or such OG HDG doesnt approach it like that - she's trans (I misremembered) but you don't get the impression that she'd not have managed without the Affini

@yuriposting @SheepwaveN 💜You'll note that in the OG HDG story, the main character isn't trans in many of the blander HDG stories, the MC isn't just trans, but has so much trauma to serve as a source of Hurt that no room for Tension with other characters is made

@yuriposting @SheepwaveN 💜IMO well-written Dubcon can have a lot in common with Hurt/Comfort But just like there, the Hurt and thus tension can come from two places: - the characters hurt each other - or the hurt is external or pre-existing And some people just prefer the latter? IMO it's just boring
