@arianek @SFU @edyong209 @wanderingkayli I teared up as well! Hearing the stories from the panelists was so moving...to know these stories are happening in our own province and are mainly being ignored by public health 😔

What a day for #scicomm in Vancouver! So excited to be part in a special workshop on "sense-making in science communication" with @LizNeeley this afternoon Followed by a free lecture with @edyong209 at @SFU this evening
@LizNeeley @edyong209 @SFU Key takeaway so far: #scicomm is about "sensemaking" — what @LizNeeley describes as “the overwhelming collective work of taking stock of ambiguous situations and figuring out what you are going to do.” Or more simply, “Knitting knowledge into meaning.”
@wanderingkayli @brunodbo I wish people like Adrian Dix and Bonnie Henry and the people who run the chronic illness and pain “programs” in this province were watching this. They could learn so much if they would actually listen to the people experiencing all of this (and were capable of empathy). #bcpoli
@wanderingkayli Maryanne is speaking as a caregiver to someone with LongCovid, and @brunodbo and I are nodding so hard. It’s so difficult - people who don’t live like this truly have no idea. It’s so, so isolating and exhausting and impossibly hard, and there is truly not enough support for us.
More masking magic tonight at Ed Yong's incredible talk at in Vancouver 🪄🦄✨ (There were actually 6 of us, but some were camera shy)
