Americans *genuinely* believe they have better food than France. They really believe it. It’s truly extraordinary.
@phl43 Your quote to like ratio is worse than when I tried to explain dividends to French Twitter 😲
@phl43 You have zero Beef O’Brady’s
@phl43 I don't think people in the U.S. think the food is better or worse. It's mostly this.
@phl43 That's because it's plausibly true. A person in the 90th percentile of giving a shit about food will generally eat better in the US than France. Median close, may lean France. 20th percentile more strongly France.
@phl43 Our gdp per capita is 50% higher so our food is roughly 50% better
@phl43 Two words, frog: ice water. And can a mfer get some decent customer service? The French just started adding a stick and a half of butter to every dish and told people that they're culinary geniuses
@phl43 If French food is so good, why haven't any of their franchises gone global? Gotta scroll all the way down to 100 to find France.
@phl43 here's my nuclear take: The ingredients are better in France (delicious vegetables and dairy and meat) but the actual cuisine is better in the US because of the diversity of offerings. Also, Provence and Bretagne are carrying French cuisine on their backs.
@phl43 lol yeah i love eating duck pate and fois gras. get real
