Today 11th June 2026, I virtually attended a Rotary international Board meeting that started in Taipei at 3.30am EAT. The Change over ceremony from the 2025-26 Board of Directors to the 2026-27 Board of Directors was quite emotional for me as my seat remained empty because DRC and Uganda citizens had our visas to Taiwan cancelled due to Ebola outbreak. I was however touch by the messages from colleagues members of the Board. In my brief statement as a new Rotary International Director, I expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve humanity in that capacity. I committed to support building of a dynamic,inclusive and impactful Rotary that seamlessly integrates with communities, businesses and civil societies to create a lasting impact in the world. Although close to 700 Rotarians from Uganda missed the Taipei Convention, we promise to organize a great Rotary All Africa Zone Institute in Kampala 1-3 October 2026 that will give a super experience similar to a global Rotary convention.

My former headmaster, Dr. Peregrine Kibuuka (may he continue to rest in peace), often reminded us: "You may commit an offence as a group but, when I send you home, there comes a moment when you step out of the taxi and walk that lonely road by yourself". It was his way of teaching us that while actions may be taken collectively, consequences are ultimately borne individually. A former boda boda rider at MM Pub, Kabuusu, Lubaga, sold his bike (when he heard me say that coffee growing gave better returns than the motor bike) and started a three-acre farm in Bukomansimbi. His farm grew to 17 acres by the time I visited him. He lives decently by any account. A well-looked after acre of coffee yields at least 800,000/- per month. #WorkAndProsper

MY CANADA EXPERIENCES Today I speak at the WESTERN UNIVERSITY about what makes UGANDA unique alongside Amb @kajik5566 and why consider Uganda in their future travels. Then I will speak to a group of UGANDAN CANADIANS about how they can take advantage of Canada by bringing Canadian tourists. I have to travel to CANADA to look for business and they live with the market that Uganda needs. Uganda would benefit a lot if the diaspora led the way. We were also at OTTAWA MARATHON and because we gave free coffee, many people wanted to know where to buy the same coffee in Canada and that’s a business opportunity for Ugandans living and working here. Big market for Ugandan products here

APPEAL Those who have my phone number, kindly do not give it out to every person looking for help with school fees. Much as I understand the desperation and wish I could help, I am only an individual human, I cannot handle the entire country’s needs for help. Over 10 to 15 people call me in a day asking for help with fees, sickness, jobs, food and so on … So, when I cannot help, please understand. Today a lady called literally crying about her daughter left with two years of Medicine at KIU, but now totally stranded. I explained that I could not help, but she insisted pleading in tears: ‘May God touch your heart not to leave me like this sir …’. I could feel the pain in her voice, and I was pained too. But I wish I was more than me.
