The full engagement of private sector entities in our mission to restructure the health products ecosystem, particularly in catalyzing domestic manufacturing of generic pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, and devices, is the cornerstone of the Presidential ‘Unlocking Healthcare Value-Chain’ Initiative (PVAC). The PVAC Initiative is a clear demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s @officialABAT, commitment to addressing the acute shortage of medicines and other health products that has long plagued Nigerians, causing undue financial and physical hardships. In collaboration with other Ministries, Agencies, and partners, we are rapidly unlocking the value chain, and our approach is twofold. Firstly, we are engaging with Nigerian private sector players; and secondly, we are attracting foreign investors and partners. Our consistent message has been that “Investing in the Nigerian pharmaceutical and medical sectors is smart business.” And we are witnessing promising results across the board. The groundbreaking ceremony, today, for the Phase 2 of the Nigerian AMA Medical Manufacturing Plant in Kaduna State, which I had the honor of conducting alongside Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala @NOIweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization @wto, was a clear lead. We were particularly impressed with the state-of-the-art production plant for high-quality intravenous solutions (IV fluids) at affordable costs, which utilizes European technology, including the Automatic Form Fill Seal (AFFS) Technology. Proudly, the facility is on par with what is available in advanced economies. The successful establishment of the AMA Medical Manufacturing Plant and its world-class facilities reaffirm our belief in the power of innovation and resilience, as well as the boundless possibilities that lie ahead for our country. AMA Medicals has set a benchmark, demonstrating to potential investors that Nigeria is a viable and attractive destination for investment. I extend my congratulations to Alhaji Musa Bello, Chairman of AMA Medical Manufacturing Plant, and the team of experts who have made this initiative a reality. As part of our unwavering commitment to saving lives and improving health outcomes for all Nigerians, we are dedicated to providing an enabling regulatory framework (@NafdacAgency) and appropriate incentives to enhance economies of scale for both national and foreign businesses, in line with the President’s agenda. Nigeria, with a market of 240 million people, and as a gateway to the regional market, is open for business; and we welcome all serious investors.
