It's not a contest, nor does it ignore the problems that still exist: female underrepresentation in power, wage gap, etc. To acknowledge suffering among one group doesn't devalue the suffering of others. Instead, it should create avenues for empathy.

@michaelianblack I think though that the right is addressing (and fueling) the idea that men are suffering because they are losing equality. They amplify suffering to benefit their message that bringing equity to women means giving women some perceived extra power that represses men.
@michaelianblack Damn. I'm agreeing with Michael a lot today. I got to get a lottery ticket or something, these days don't come often
@michaelianblack "Avenues of Empathy" is a great turn of phrase.
@michaelianblack Two things can both be true: Men, due to a handful of societal dynamics are feeling less connected and able to find joy in their existence (reasons are and should be debated). And two, when you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
@michaelianblack Men have had all the advantages in the world. When they suffer, they R seen & heard, they R taken care of, if they want. The medical industry has always catered to them. They have everything at their disposal. Is it any wonder the rest don't have much empathy for them as a whole?
@michaelianblack They want revenge, not empathy.
@michaelianblack It’s not pie. You don’t know get less if someone else gets what you have.
@michaelianblack I see somebody I still on a high from the final The State show!! (Great show, by the way).
