@mattyglesias The secret sauce to post-fascist prosperity is being militarily conquered, occupied, and politically rebuilt by the United States. That path is obviously unavailable to the U.S. itself.
@jonathanchait It seems like notwithstanding Germany’s affluence, that going Nazi and getting crushed in a war opened up a gap with social democratic Sweden that has never closed.
