I used to spend 2-3 weeks building an MVP. Now, instead I’m always warming up emails & setting up outreach campaigns. Founders often forget they are building for people— listen to people.

@kylegawley I see what you mean, live migrations are never fun. But I'd much rather deal with painful tech debt once my business is profitable and thriving vs when it's an unvalidated MVP without any paying customers.
@kylegawley I am having this issue right now. Not everything is crap or unorganized but parts of the code were done poorly by myself and now I need to deal with the consequences. 1300 daily users affected. That’s why now my code is always nice from the beginning. Well said!

@kylegawley @nextjs @rails @astrodotbuild Launched before @astrodotbuild was out. I’m sure there will be another option for folks to choose from in a few months. Pick what you’re comfortable with and focus on delivering value to customers. Astro does look interesting though.

@kylegawley I disagree with your last paragraph. I think that if you have such a large scale saas with so many users and your worry is (amongst other) backend deployment, then your architecture and deployment patterns should be further looked into. It's not a matter of the tech stack.
@kylegawley I built my own boiler plate in .NET for 3 SaaS. FE + BE + SQL ASP.NET + C# + Azure SQL + Stripe. Let's me ship quickly and includes membership. The majority of JS Frameworks made a mess of modern web dev.
@kylegawley Lots of excuses in this thread trying to justify not having competent staff that knows more than one language. JS is not the solution for everything. It’s sometimes a poor choice, a sticks and glue architecture to avoid better solutions out of pure laziness.
@kylegawley In the SaaS I am hoping to launch soon, i broke up the backend, frontend, login, amd marketing into all separate sites. If it takes off, i want to be able to scale easily.
@kylegawley I felt something was off during the Vercel one-click deployment. If it's too easy it usually means it's hard to customize. I prefer github actions to deploy UIs to S3 and APIs separately.
