Why Stand-Up Comedy & Mobility Are The Same(I Know Because I Did Both): The biggest mentor I ever had was poking me after every movement session we did back in 2021. ‘You should do a stand-up one day’ ‘You should do a stand-up one day’ He said this because I’m always the guy who cracks jokes. Then one day he told me: ‘You should do a stand-up in front of the group!’ I’m not sure if I wanted him to just stop asking or if I was excited by the idea. But I was like ‘Fack it, let's do it’. So I went into full action mode. From the beginning of summer until December 12th I studied and practiced. Harassed my girlfriend day after day with horrible jokes. (She’s still with me luckily) And there I was on December 12th, performing in a dojo in front of a group of fellow practitioners. For 45 minutes long, in English not even my native language. End results? I got a few laughs and a 90-second blackout!!! Let me tell you...those 90 seconds are very like a goddamn year NGL. So I sucked, but who cares! In my journey towards and in this moment, I expanded the ranges of my psyche. Just like I did with my body. I expanded my physical abilities by learning to move through larger ranges of motion. This is why stand-up comedy & mobility training are the same. You practice something and you suck at, but in the process, you expand beyond your limitations. And that’s what life is all about. If you’re somebody who is ready to expand… To eliminate nagging pains… To become more mobile for a higher quality of life… Or to get functionally strong and fit… DM ‘standup’ and I’ll show you how we get you to your new state.
