“Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son. It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people.” -family of Anthony Huber
@jimsciutto 1A right to protest has become exponentially more dangerous than it was an hour ago.
@jimsciutto I feel like the media as a whole didn't talk about the victims enough.Just the perpetrator. That was kinda weird. I rarely heard the names of the victims. Bet most people don't know their names just their killers name. No wonder people say "Say Their Name" cause no one does.
@jimsciutto It's about time we heard from the parents of the victims.
@jimsciutto @rstrok71 The only solution to this horrible problem is to ban carrying guns at any site of public gatherings. Not at sports events, holiday gatherings or protests. The police ought to get behind this. It’s the first amendment for a reason.
@jimsciutto Today’s Rittenhouse verdict is a white supremacy message that tells people of color they will legally get shot if they protest. If 17 y/o can show up with assault weapons and shoot anyone, that will definitely stop protests, which is their goal.
@jimsciutto "I killed him because if I didn't, I was afraid he would take my gun and use it to kill me." An interesting legal position to take. How long before everyone is fair game?
@jimsciutto Also it doesn't protect US if we want to stop a active shooter!!! He was a active shooter🤬
@jimsciutto The Huber's are 100% correct. This verdict, like Zimmerman's, proves that vigilante justice is OK in the USA.
@jimsciutto @mehdirhasan So if an active shooter is shooting people and people are trying to get a gun away from the shooter and the person trying to get the gun away from them gets shot the shooter can now just claim self-defense when they take a life?
