Dispatchable Loads = Provisional Controllable Load Resources (CLRs) are emerging as a faster, more cost-effective method for managing transmission constraints in @ERCOT_ISO compared to #DynamicLineRatings By allowing large loads to actively participate in Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (#SCED) via provisional registration, ERCOT will enable private entities to manage their own reliability compliance, accelerating energization while mitigating the need for immediate, expensive network upgrades or finding cash to implement DLR. Even better if the constraints are getting managed by low-risk, high performance crypto, inference, BESS-paired, 1:1 industrial flex, and other champion flex loads coming to Texas who are willing to let a SCED constraint bind the load. Even so, ERCOT's approach is not draconian. Loads are dispatched after generators - just in time, last in line.

Take note! Distribution-connected BESS can take off when LSEs are allowed to avoid capacity/RA payments by relying on them, passing through a shadow price of capacity. Will be interesting to see if more restructured utilities are willing to do this to help control costs
2. Unique in PJM, IL's largest utility, @ComEd, charges retailers like Base for their net, aggregated demand, which gives customers credit for our batteries' surplus. A private capacity market that side steps many PJM hassles!
@xiaowang1984 Great question. Maybe it matters that Base will act as a retailer/LSE with certain obligations that do not apply to conventional loads? I think MLPs get to do so in ISONE for that reason...?

The world is changing right in front of us and no one knows it. Texas is running its world-class economy on 70% renewables, right now. Gas is there if we need it, but for today, we can save the fuel for another day.
