2/ We will not solving the problem of get refusal by begging individual abusive men to give their wife a get. Trying to change the systemic problem of get refusal one abusive man at a time is like playing a game of whacamole. Chained women don't have time for us to do that.
It is a myth that all other divorce matters need to be resolved before a get is given. Delaying a get leaves the door open for exploitation, coercion, and abuse!
3/ The current practice in most orthodox batei din is to allow child access and financial matters to be resolved before a man can be expected to give a get. This creates an environment that is ripe for exploitation. It puts the get up for sale. How much will a woman pay for it?
A great thread on Daniel Greenberg's book, one of the few discussions of get refusal that does not shy away from exposing the corruption and complicity of Batei din, without which get abuse would be much less of an issue than it is today.

Myth: Halachic prenuptial agreements are a complete solution to the agunah problem. Fact: While halachic prenups are great (and endorsed by IBD), the most difficult cases rarely have a halachic prenup signed. In those cases, other solutions are necessary. (7/7)
Some myths/facts about Jewish divorce and gett abuse: a 🧵 Myth: A gett can only be given after the civil divorce is complete Fact: A gett can be given at any time (and should be given as soon as possible) (1/7)
Myth: If your husband is refusing to give you a divorce, there is nowhere for you to turn. Fact: There are many support organizations, and the International Beit Din stands ready to help with dayanim (religious judges) who are experts in the laws of Jewish divorce. (6/7)
Myth: Gett abuse is a small problem that is usually resolved quietly. Fact: As rabbinic authority has become more decentralized and modern divorce rates have risen, tens of thousands of women suffer abuse and extortion. Existing institutions often fail them. (5/7)
Myth: Freeing a woman who is an agunah using non-gett solutions is not accepted. Fact: Leading Rabbis of recent generations (such as R. Moshe Feinstein zt"l) used such methods and encouraged others to do the same when warranted. (4/7)
Myth: If a man refuses to give a gett, there are no halachic solutions available. Fact: There are many normative halachic ways to void a marriage, like finding that the witnesses/ceremony were invalid, or finding that the marriage was entered under false pretenses. (3/7)
Myth: It's permissible according to Jewish law for a man to delay a gett in exchange for a more favorable marriage settlement. Fact: If a gett is obligatory under Jewish law, it is forbidden (and immoral) to delay giving it, and/or to use it as a means of extortion. (2/7)
This resource can also highlight the work of courts that are supportive, just, and respectful. This is a crucial resource for Beit Din transparency, and an important step towards empowering women as they navigate obtaining a gett.
In response to this issue, @ChochmatNashim GettOutUK, and Organization for the Resolution of Agunot (ORA) just launched a new site: ratemybeitdin.com, which allows women to upload stories of abuse, corruption, and mistreatment by Batei Din around the world.
