Earlier today, the #GCrypto team visited a couple of @worldcoin locations in Quezon City, and I have to say ... I got the same chills from peak @AxieInfinity back in 2021. Let me explain. Axie singlehandedly brought 1.5M Filipinos into the decentralized crypto universe for the first time, and until that point no other single project had ever come close to that level of mass adoption. I remember being gobsmacked the first few times I saw the size of the local Axie community at our events, and even more impressed when I realized that they were from all walks of life. But I also remember having serious concerns about Axie's tokenomics and sustainability, which I wrote about extensively at the time. Ultimately, those issues proved to be insurmountable, and well ... we all know how that ended. So when I say that I felt those same chills while observing the hundreds of people waiting for their Worldcoin scan today, I'm talking about BOTH the good and the bad. There is no denying that Worldcoin as a crypto onboarding engine is probably unmatched right now in the Philippines. The only thing that I can think of that comes close recently is the Metamax Tron scam from last year, and for obvious reasons, that wasn't something to be celebrated. (If you don't know what that is, consider yourself lucky 📷) The bottom line is that Filipinos need the free money incentive, and 3,000 pesos in exchange for scanning your retinas is a pretty good deal for 95% of the population. (And don't forget the 600 peso referral reward, which maxes out at 10 refs.) I can totally see this mechanism onboarding a couple of million Filipinos within the next year ... but at the same time I have very similar worries about its sustainability. It's superior to Axie in the sense that no one needs to spend any money to get started, and there's no investment angle other than the token itself. (You can't lose money trying to buy overpriced NFTs here.) But because the token is designed almost entirely to get paid out during these early phases, there's always a tremendous amount of sell pressure keeping the price down. And that sell pressure can only continue growing. I'm unable to form any long-term conclusions about the World project, and this is not a investment thesis. But as I was standing there in the middle of Farmers Plaza in Cubao today, I couldn't help but think that I'd been here before. Instead of rows and rows of players competing with their colorful, bouncing NFTs, there were rows and rows of people waiting for their turn to stand in front of shiny steel Orbs ... all of them suddenly aware of the many opportunities that crypto makes possible, for the first time ever. ###

Bitcoin dropping like a bomb 😬

The economics of war: There were only 20 bunker buster bombs (Massive Ordinance Penetrator) ever built, which the US purchased and improved with a $100M+ budget between 2009-2012. No other country has them in their arsenal. They are considered the largest non-nuclear ordinance available, weigh 30,000 pounds, and can destroy bunkers up to 200ft underground. The US reportedly dropped six (?) of them on Iran earlier today, delivered via B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, which are the world's most expensive aircraft, at $2.1B each.
