One of the topics I spoke about at @CanJamGlobal NYC was about how headphones and IEMS measures differently on Type 3.3 vs Type 4.3 ear simulators. Here is an illustration of 20 IEMS measured on both types, including the model used for our IE Target research.

Very cool, Sean! As you mentioned in your talk at CanJam, I noticed this back in late 2019 and shared my theory with a couple of my test & measurement mentors (Jacob Soendergaard and Dan Foley). They suggested I contact Brüel & Kjær, which I did in early 2020, after doing more measurements. In a lengthy email I sent to Brüel & Kjær's Alun Crewe, Lars Birger Nielsen, Marty Alexander, and Vince Rey (with Søren Jønsson, Rémi Guastavino, and Anders Eriksen later joining the discussion), I asked them "Might this be part of the explanation for the ~4 dB difference in the bass levels found in the Harman IE Target versus the Harman AE/OE Target?" They interrogated this in very Brüel & Kjær ways, and concluded that, yes, the fixture differences likely explained why the two Harman Targets differed. And that was when I telephoned you.
