In early Jan, $TSLA M-Y was $65,990. Today, it’s $49,900. After the $7,500 EV credit the new cost is $42,400, or 35% lower. Why isn’t TSLA demand elasticity higher?
For those voting the economy why are home purchases so strong? $DHI stock price is near a record.
▪️The elephant in the room: considering that premium car purchases are 80%+ customer-discretionary, to what degree has @elonmusk's divisive political rhetoric of the past ~year eroded trust in Tesla's brand, especially in the “core EV demography”: high-income, high-education, younger households that heavily lean liberal? 🤔
@garyblack00 1) We can’t ignore mass white collar and high end blue collar layoffs & Fed that is oblivious in US 2) Q1 seasonality is usually - qoq for autos, they beat. 3) If China goes 88K to 100K this month…what’s the narrative? 4) what if price👇🏼to slot new 400+ mile 3/Y higher px?
@garyblack00 1) Lack of public EV awareness (need to advertise). Most Americans aren’t considering an EV, no matter the brand, because they think it’s overly expensive, scared of the battery, bad charging infra, etc. 2) Brand has been tainted by taking political sides and pace of price cuts
@garyblack00 They are blowing up the hole economy for China !!!
@garyblack00 People citing the economy are wrong.
@garyblack00 People citing the economy are wrong.
@garyblack00 Lack of education/ads, refresh/new models, missing segments and all of the above
@garyblack00 It’s apparently because the auto loan rate is too high. But I’m pretty sure when the rate drops , the demand will be there.
