At @CR_UK we’ve made huge progress on cancer over the last 50 years – but cancer is still the defining health issue of our time. Great news – this pledge will bring hope to many today. However, in order for this to be transformational, we must see sufficient funding and resources provided. @CR_UK has been funding research in this area for many years, and proved over 20 years ago that almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV, overturning previous studies that had underestimated the link. I'm hopeful that a future without cervical cancer can be a reality for people all over the world.
The NHS will today pledge to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040 for the first time ever, by focusing on easy access to HPV vaccinations and boosting cervical screening. Read more about how the NHS is set to save thousands more lives each year. england.nhs.uk/2023/11/nhs-se…
