EHCP annual review this morning. Such a stark difference to how things used to be. Years of pre annual review legal prep, stress, anxiety because of persistent failures from schools. Now in fab school with ethical leadership & staff who are keen to learn, it will be a pleasure.
Have been stressed all night. B suddenly has no school today (specialschool so no provision for #keyworker kids). He usually has 1-1 support #EHCP and we have stacks of school work given. Both parents are #keyworkers , kids 2&3 schools shut next week😭 #franticallyfindingsolution

I didn't think I could spend another night trawling through Betsy's EHCP. I was done in by 5 hours of phone calls and arguments. But I did do it. BPD does not mix well with stress and I've rapid cycled today. It is this current situation with the LA that caused it. GP agrees.
News roundup: It looks like we're going down the EHCP route for the boy (stress, incoming!), the car is in for it's MOT and I'm not sure it will pass and the kids school is closing early due to the heat. Exciting stuff eh?
@martinimarie 😂😂😂 I wish my problems were as simple as that, but with three disability managers, two APs and two headteachers, 2 EHCP coordinators their manager and manager 4 directors & executive working together to deny services + cause health and stress related illness to 2 children

@CircleCaring We are still in the process of EHCP... if that is agreed so much stress will be removed 🙏 £140 per week is unmanageable, but what do I do 😪 if I take that away he's at further risk & consequences 🙈 he's already got to work harder than most 💙
@AlisonTarrant All because he’s out of routine no structure no correct education setting to send him to till his ehcp is complete I sit worried if I’ll have another heart attack due to the stress &if worse case scenario my children end up in the care system as well as struggling with education
Exhausted, unable to form a coherent sentence, but lying here next to Jaxon, fast asleep beside me, and thinking of the last 18 months. All the fight and the stress was worth it. On Friday he was granted an EHCP with full-time 1-1 support and specialist provision.

Tonight we heard my son’s EHCP has finally been agreed It’s taken two years and been an almost full time job to negotiate a fairly basic package for a child who has daily seizures and autism. In that time he has been out of education “Golden ticket” my arse

@IGMansfield You have no clue how hard it is to get an EHCP. No one would go through the stress if it wasn’t needed. When you get one you still have to fight. Would you like to buy my golden ticket. It’s worthless to my child who is out of school. The £ would help pay my solicitor.

Parents can’t be expected to pay fines for poor attendance one minute and expected to collect their children when it suits! I’ve been that parent, I am that parent! Attendance does matter, look at the reasons why children are unable to access the setting! #UnmetNeeds…

They managed it so well we deregistered her in year 4, because they had broken her. She fits the PDA profile.
When an LA says “special” provision but put mainstream on an EHCP, you know they are just nasty. Why?
@martinimarie 12yo. Autism/ADHD/demand avoidance/anxiety/insomnia. Diagnosed and EHCP aged 6. Problems with school avoidance began 4m into year 7. School not following EHCP. Lots of gaslighting and lies. Ending with very sick boy and CAMHs offering only return to school workshop. 1/2
Autism/ ADHD/Severe Anxiety/ PDA/ Trauma n Tics Diagnosed at 3 yrs, he’s 19 now. Statemented at 3yrs. Full #EHCP. In n out of various settings who couldn’t meet needs. EOTAS since 14yrs. Lost it twice, No current support for 18 months. Estimated total failure at least 6 years!…
1. Work is so hard rn We have so many children who are struggling. I hear this from colleagues at other schools too. Anxiety, school refusal… lots of our children are waiting for assessment & EHCP. Some are being refused despite a wealth of evidence that they need more support
@HamerJaq @JohnAylott7 SO many SEN experience this,get a EHCP & note bullying. With an EHCP Teachers HAVE TO follow it,otherwise they are not be meeting her needs. Make a list & contact LA,get an EHCP & if the bullying & anxiety gets too much.Let the LA know, so her absence is dealt with appropriately.
@martinimarie Daughter,14, Nearly a year missed, autism diagnosis stalled as she also has OCD and anxiety - apparently they can’t look at all the aspects she struggles with together🤷🏼♀️. School stalling on EHCP application and minimal adjustments made
We are rewriting our #ActuallyAutistic YP's EHCP to send to his LA. His educational SEN=multiply ND: autistic/dyslexic. His health needs=multiply ND: autistic/ dyslexic. Environments matter. Where understanding of his neurodivergence is poor/ill-informed, anxiety/trauma increase.
2 boys in Y6, both on waiting list for same ND both struggling to attend sch due to anxiety. They live in different LAs. Child A is given EHCP & LA are placing in special school. Child B is refused EHCP & told QFT in high sch is all he needs Help me see how that is a fair system!
National Exclusion Day for EHCP Kids as their yr 6 peers share where they will go to Secondary School and start to mentally prepare and form bonds with others headed the same direction. Many will go through the rest of the year and SATs with excruciating anxiety about it.
