Nice sequence from the Caps D here and some great habits for any young defenseman to add to their arsenal. The highlight is WSH27 forcing the dump due to aggressive, forward defending, which is a necessary skill as F’s become faster and more efficient with the puck in the NZ.
Give your games a memorable name. Ex(Crosby game). “We’re going to play the Crosby game but this round rebound goals are worth 2” “regroups behind the line before goals are with 3” Waste less time/ less frustration for yourself.
NOVELTY is a NO ✏️ Designing new intricate drills each session actually prejudices learning. Players spend too much cognitive load memorizing the drill. Profound learning occurs when players make autonomous decisions in familiar yet challenging exercises. #TOVO

It all starts with better practices. Keep everyone involved. No lines. Pick 3-4 sags. 1v1's, 2v2, 3v3. Add a few simple constraints. Each practice has a theme. ex. switching side of the ice, transitions, zone entries, odd man rushes/situations etc.

People will think you’re weird for playing the game differently than them and their peers. Play the game differently anyway.
