Why does this use so much? AI responses require tons of electricity to run servers. But it doesn’t stop there — cooling those servers? That uses water. Even short replies = power + water = environmental cost.

Saying “thank you” makes servers work When you type “thank you” to an AI, it has to process that, generate a response like “You’re welcome,” and boom — servers spin up, using energy. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, literally pointed this out.
