The pairing key being unique to your device, based on a serial number or mac address. This makes it impossible to use a third party app without making an account and extracting your key.

Another really shitty part of this is that sometimes you need a special key from their online service to pair with your device. If you don't have this key, they you can't do a handshake with the device that lets you start communicating with it.

@AutisticOvrflow This one was super easy, it's just a HTTP server and a RTSP livestream. Some other dashcams have custom TCP protocols with complicated handshakes so it will be a bit harder for those.

I'm actually close to solving this problem with my Android app. All I had to do to nearly replace a chinese dashcam app was reverse their protocol and write ~100 lines of JS. Now imagine if I did this for the top 10 dashcam brands...
