The @NRL needs a way to stop tries so their biggest sponsor, the bookies don’t get hammered with huge payouts every time players go over. These rules exist to help them control the game’s narrative and scoring. All the rules that make no sense on the field are really there to protect the sportsbooks and let the NRL manage the product for them.
