In Ghana’s mining communities, many children face the difficult choice between school and unsafe work. Through our Reading Ghana Western Region program, CODE and partners are helping change that, reaching 12,500 students across 37 schools. This year, 296 teachers strengthened their literacy instruction skills, classrooms were filled with culturally relevant books, and Grade 5 reading comprehension scores increased by 15% in project schools.
