This is just awesome. If I built an awesome business, became a billionaire and was forced out of my own company by dumb activist investors (stock is down 16% since they forced him out a few months ago) I too would buy The Onion.
@cjc My apartment back then was hilarious, though. Something out of Harry Potter — a tiny studio under the stairs. But it had direct access to the backyard of the building I was in, and I made very good use of it.
When I first moved to the bay area in 2010 I used to host BBQs at my apt in Palo Alto. They were always full of serendipity in the way that only the bay can be. One such BBQ led to @cjc joining Stripe, and I actually know of at least two other similar stories.
