that’s funny since the main reason k-pop started dominating my preferences over j-pop way back whenever was probably a natural progression since k-pop’s accessibility got easier.

even now seeing Starto or Smile-Up artists and the juniors on official youtube channels with english subtitles is still trippy.
@cierabyul I did the jump to jpop from K-pop and it was a rough time to adjust. You really have to look and find the perfect set of people on social media to get a reliable and steady flow of news. And I was in a BIG and expansive random so that helped. Good luck with niche acts
@cierabyul Additionally, the jpop business is way bigger and has way more variety and layers so it takes a lot more to keep a website on jpop updated than it would a kpop one. It's niche per niche 😅
@cierabyul Facts! Japan put such a lockdown on their music when youtube and music streaming starting blowing up that it backfired on them. It felt like needing two references and a background check. J-pop is starting to make a comeback and I'm happy.
@cierabyul I found Fujii Kaze's tiny desk on YT and for like 10 mins I could watch it and then it was sniped by copyright.
@cierabyul I was shocked when my friend told me her gg drive videos of Japanese shows got copyright striked😭
