🥑🫀 Cardiovascular Nutrition in 2026: Cutting Through the Noise In an era dominated by social media claims and dietary polarization, this state-of-the-art review in JACC Advancesprovides much-needed clarity on trending cardiovascular nutrition controversies . Rather than ideology, the authors categorize foods into three evidence-based groups: ⚠️ Evidence of Harm – Limit or Avoid • Beef tallow → raises LDL-C and worsens cardiometabolic markers • Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) → linked to obesity, diabetes, CVD, and mortality • Artificial sweeteners & sugar alcohols → associated with higher CV events and possible pro-thrombotic mechanisms 🤔 Insufficient Evidence • Full-fat dairy → neutral overall; not superior to low-fat • MCT oils → niche therapeutic roles, no strong CVD prevention data • Monk fruit & stevia → limited cardiovascular outcome evidence ✅ Evidence of Benefit • Seed oils (PUFAs & MUFAs) → lower LDL-C, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce CVD risk • Seafood (EPA/DHA) → robust association with reduced coronary events, stroke, and CV mortality 🔬 What’s innovative here?
