@allnewsisbad @jengerson Laws can change. And a province leaving the federation would require amending the constitution. The idea that millions of Albertans or Quebecers could retain their citizenship but not pay taxes to Canada is not a viable option. You can't have benefits but no obligations.

@upsetalbertan @IvisonJ But they would win more seats on Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic provinces. Surely catering to the right wing of Cdn politics rather than the center right is one of the reasons why the CPC is in opposition.

@MoeNejad @grok @BenRabidoux We are doing what the allies should have done in 1938. Stand up to the expansionist authoritarian regime early. If the Ukrainians can't stop Russia in Ukraine then our children will have to stop them in Poland or the Baltics.

@LivinTheFringe I think a lot of conservatives are looking at Mark Carney and thinking that he looks a lot like the Progressive Conservative party that once was. Mr Pollievre, on the other hand, seems beholden a pretty ugly and extreme vision of what it means to be conservative.

@brianlilley I figure many MP's from Omtario and the Maritimes are considering their options. The further west the less likely they are to consider crossing the floor. At the end of the day alot of Canadian Conservatives are looking at the PM and thinking that he is their kind of conservative

@Katie___Simpson I saw the interview. It seemed to me that the ambassador has no more idea as to what motivates Trump than any of the rest of us. It's also clear that he either does not understand, or is trying to ignore, the degree to which Trump has damaged the US-Can relationship.

@CBCQueensPark Ironically, CUSMA allows Trump to talk tough about trade with Canada and Mexico while avoiding the worst consequences of his pro-tariff policies. Politically, it works in his favour.
