We use a combination of functional assays, biophysical characterization, and theoretical modeling to show that while synergy between protective IDPs and their endogenous solutes is widespread, the mechanisms driving this synergy differ between IDP families.
Disordered proteins are ubiquitous and play myriad important roles in biology. The structural form of these proteins can change when the solution environment changes. But does this translate into function? We answer this question in our new preprint: tinyurl.com/3bwm2twf
