Huh. Figured out the bats we've been swinging have been hollowed out. No wonder we haven't been hitting the ball as hard. I'll get the equipment team to plug those bats up and we'll be back to scoring.
Yes, one of our goals this season was to strike out less often. However, old habits die hard. Most of our lineup fundamentally knows that they should hit the ball instead of missing it. It's mostly a matter of execution, which is very fixable, especially with me at the helm.
While Julio was standing the on deck circle before his eventual game-winner, I hobbled over to him (lost some circulation in my legs from sitting for too long) and told him to "find a gap somewhere, kiddo" -- paired with a slap on the pants. It's good to know I've still got it.
Had to chuckle after a fan yelled "THANKS FOR GIVING HANIGER THE HOME RUN SIGN SCOTT". Of course, you all wanted it, and I made it happen. Welcome back, Mitch.

This Spring Training, I am giving all the guys a pair of the Griffey Nike sneakers. The only caveat is, if they don't end up making the final roster, I will be asking for them back. Now the cream will certainly rise to the crop, and my reputation as a players-manager will grow!
