a lot of guilty gear players are just very rude and unwelcoming to people picking up the series or are still learning. making fun of people for being bad at a video game they're still learning isn't cool btw

@basilcores It Sounds like you found just the wrong people to start with. Is Gear your first Fighting game?
@basilcores Every fgc is like super gatekeepy but I think guilty gear is definitely one of the worst, with stuff like the “aba fans getting ready to play her for the first time” idk sorry I don’t have a 20 year old game dude
@basilcores the gatekeeping is insane when it comes to the guilty gear community
@basilcores That's interesting to hear. When I went to a guilty gear local for the first time, I had multiple people so happy to see a new face that they all offered to teach me how their character works and how to beat what they're doing.
@basilcores Yeah I don't know where the sudden spike in overt hate towards strive is coming from, but it's only like 50-100 people I've seen circle-jerking their anger about it.
@basilcores Guilty gear is tough game to learn tho, I would never try to play it competively at a high level, only funsies
@basilcores I think the game is good... like many other bad fanbase community.
@basilcores this is all fighting games. I've never in my life met someone genuinly interested in teaching new people, as much as they say they care. Even my good friends use me as a punching bag "you'll get better." Ive just given up trying to learn fighting games as much as id play to play
